About me
I'm an engineer and university professor with more than two decades in technology: systems administration, network security, and software development. I've spent much of my career doing work that almost always happens quietly — making sure networks run, data stays protected, and systems withstand attacks the end user never gets to see.
The other half of my professional life has been teaching. Explaining how telecommunications and networks work to generations of students taught me something no technical manual covers: any idea, however complex it seems, can be conveyed clearly if you truly understand it and genuinely care that the other person understands it too.
And before all of that, I was a reader. Books have been a constant in my life, and from that passion for reading came, over the years, an interest in writing. My first book, The Privacy Habit, brings both halves together: the perspective of the engineer who builds and defends real systems, and that of the professor who enjoys explaining. Its Spanish edition, ¿Nada que ocultar?, brings the same ideas to Spanish-speaking readers.
I'm now exploring new paths, including fiction. If writing has taught me anything, it's that telling a story well and explaining an idea well have more in common than you'd think.
